Dog Days....
It's HOT here. I finally get what they mean by the Dog Days of Summer. It's been in the high 90's with humidity off the chart. We've been going to the pool so much this summer, everyone is getting kind of bored with it. The boys don't get excited when I annouce "Let's go swimming!" Guess it doesn't help that the pool feels like a warm bath.....not exactly refreshing. So we spend our days in the air-conditioning, finding activities to make the day go by faster. We finally started going back to the beach. I had been avoiding it, thinking it would be impossible to do alone with the three boys, while Chris is at work. But we finally did it and it wasn't horrible. We meet a friend out there who has son Chandler's age. He and Chandler spend most of their time in the water, while Cooper, Max and I hang out near the edge of the water. Well, that is, if I can pull Max away from the snacks long enough to get wet. That boy likes to sit and eat all the snacks before he even thinks about the fact that he is at the beach! Once he good and full, well then, he waddles off into the sand and water to play with his brother. Now that I know we can do it, we have been a few more times and will try to make the beach a weekly activity. We only live about 20 minutes from a really nice beach area, so it is a quick drive. And nothing burns up a child's energy more than a long hot day at the beach! That means a early bed night for them and a nice relaxing evening for us! Everybody wins!!
