Looking forward to Spring...

February is winding down....

February has been busy for as usual.

Cooper with his karate, Chandler still doing Flag Football, and spring baseball has just started to rev up.

One weekend we took the boys to a Civil War Re-enactment about an hour from us. We were hestitant to go as it had been rainy the day before, and still damp that morning, but in the end, decided to risk the rain, and headed out. Neither Chris nor I have been to a Civil War Re-enactment, even though we have lived in the South for 11 years or so, and there are numerous events in the around the area. We knew the boys would like it, as mention anything about guns, and they are all over it. We were suprised to see the amount of people there, and found out later this is one of the largest Re-enactments in the South. The battle was really cool, and the reenactors take special care to do military moves and the battle as it was back then. After the battle, we walked through the "Suters" area, which is the tents where you can buy all kinds of things related to the Civil War, including full garb, either North or South. I had previously advised the boys that I would not be spending money on anything, so if they wanted to buy something , it would be from their wallet. Chandler bought himself a huge rifle, like 4 feet long. Cooper bought himself a smaller rifle, about 2 feet long, and a Blue Soldier hat. We bought Max a smaller hand gun thing, cuz he had to have a gun too if the big boys were getting one. Chris bought himself a cigar. All three of the guns were actually cap guns, so we bought caps. So the boys spent the rest of the afternoon when we got home running around the neighborhood shooting their guns, impressing the other neighborhood children when real smoke would come out.

The next weekend we had Cooper's Birthday sleepover, with a Army theme. He invited six boys to spend the night. Our plan was to run them ragged until bedtime, in hopes they would immediately crash. We painted camoflauge on their faces as they arrived. Chris planned a Secret Mission for them (ie scavenger hunt). We put Chandler in charge as the Mission Leader, while Chris followed behind several feet just to be safe. After the first five minutes, Chandler was about to have a meltdown trying to stabilize the chaos that is several six year old boys, so we had to relieve him of his duties. Probably not a good thing for the older brother to start yelling crazily at all of the children :)!! Then the boys had a Silly String fight. Fed them pizza, cake and ice cream. Took them out after it was dark, all wearing those glowing necklaces, to play Manhunt (hide-n-seek in the dark). Then it was time to settle down for a movie underneath the giant fort Chris had created with sheets in the loft. At this point, we lost one soldier, who decided he didn't really want to sleepover. Thankfully, he lived across the street, so I was able to walk him home. Our plan of running them so they would fall asleep failed miserably. They were up until 1130 a.m., and constantly complaining, needing, asking, coming downstairs, etc etc etc. Ugh!!!! We had parents arrive at 9 a.m. for pickup, which gave us just enough time to pack their things, feed them breakfast, and push them out the door. Our house was trashed, Cooper had a blast, and Chris and I were thankful that this would only be once a year!

Chandler's Flag Football team has finally found it's groove and has been able to win a couple of games. Chandler was excited to be able to complete quite a few touchdown passes. He has asked to play Flag Football again for the spring season. We will have to see how that works into our schedule.

Max is 100% potty-trained. No accidents, not even at night. Most times I don't even remember to bring extra clothes for him. That is huge, he made the Three Year Old deadline!!!! He is quite the little boy now, as he has full conversations that actually make sense. He loves to tag along with the big boys, and had a blast at Cooper's party. He is looking forward to his birthday cake and has asked to have a Batman cake.

And now Spring is just around the corner, lots of new things to look forward to!
