So I haven't posted since August. Nothing to post about or too much to post about?? You decide. September is not over yet, and already the month was tiring:
Labor Day weekend: Went to the Ichketucknee River, about 1 1/2 hours from Jacksonville. Rented tubes and floated down crystal clear river for abot 5 hours. Chris was the first one to fall in, not on purpose, within seconds of getting to the river. FUNNY!!! Chandler and I practically cried, not from sadness! Chandler swam most of the time, kept creeping us out and swimming along the bottom of the river. Found a penny from 1988 (which Cooper promptly threw back in) and a Hyundai car key. SOMEBODY was unlucky that day. Had a great time and can't wait to go back next summer.
Cooper starts preschool: First day went smooth, next two weeks not so much. Guess he realized it wasn't ALL about the playground after that first day. He is doing much better now, no tears in the morning, and he seems to be settling in. Me, I am doubting it. Today we got a note home that Cooper needs to practice coloring. WHAT? Practice coloring?? As if he will go to college and not know how to color? Not about coloring in lines, using the right colors, etc, just "practice coloring". I am not liking the rigidness. We shall see.
Homeschool co-op starts: Co-op started, which is almost every Friday. But I also volunteered to lead a class on Oral Presentation for 3-5th graders. Why? Not sure....what do I know about it? Took a few classes in high school and college (twice, found out the first time you actually had to go to pass, oops!). So a good friend is helping me and thankfully she is doing most of the work and leading the class :). We were assigning demonstration presentations this week so I gave an example demonstration presenation, "How to make your own Dog Treats"....so I am up until midnight the night before making peanut butter dog bones for an example...we don't even have a dog. Did find out though that when you put something in the oven, you should try to remember they are there, otherwise....well, let's say the smoke alarms at midnight is not a good thing! Also volunteered to be the Field Trip Coordinator...didn't seem hard at first, make a few phone calls or emails to fun/interesting places for kids to check out. Well, that WAS the easy part. The hard part is fielding the constant questions/issues from the families about the trips. No hard, really, just constant. ****Next time you see me raise my hand to volunteer for something, quick, SLAP my hand down!!!!!!!!
Chandler starts baseball: Chris finally got a team with our league, San Jose Athletic Association. It was hard to get a team because so many coaches return and they get first pick. Finally he got one, but only because another coach dropped out, so they threw Chris in at the last minute. Our first week of games rained, rained, rained, so now we are two games behind schedule. Chris wants to practice everyday if possible. I have to tell him it's not.
Grandma Myers and Darcy visit: Had a great time with Grandma and Darcy. Took them out and about just enough to make it interesting, but not enough to be exhausted. Like that about them. Sometimes out-of-town visitors want you to just take them everywhere, like you are tour guide. But no, we had lots of time at home to relax and played board games until way late at night. My boys really enjoyed Grandma and Darcy. Cooper was a leech on Grandma, in a cute way! He went to McDonalds with them and was in fake-meat HOG Heaven!
Group order on Reusablebags.com: So got a 20% discount code for this website that sells Kleen Kanteens and SIGGS, and whole bunch of other fun stuff to live life naturally, avoid leeching plastics, etc. Thought I would organize a huge group order for people in Jax so we could all split shipping and pay less, less, less. Although all done via email and Paypal, it was alot of work. Figuring totals, deciphering what people who can't spell/type where trying to order, constant emails back and forth, collecting money, etc etc. In the end, we got a huge order, we all saved a bunch, I got what I wanted. They just arrived today, and now I have to sort through the orders and then coordinate the pickup of the products for the others.
Cooper starts soccer: What a mess. The league is horribly disorganized. No coach, finally got a coach, no contact from him about when practices are, finally find out day before practice starts, and two days before games start. Go to practice, no coach. Other parents lead practice, decide we don't want/need this coach who is unreliable. Parents decide to lead coup and take over team. Fate to be decided...stay tuned. ps. Cooper does great at soccer. He is enjoying the running around with the other kids. Not sure he understands the point of the game, but he likes to run and if occasionally he touches the ball with his foot, well that was good too. And he is EAGERLY awaiting his first game so he can have the team snack!
In between all of this...daily life. Field trips (which I have to be early to since I organized), school work with Chandler (doing new curriculum this year, www.k12.com, so a bit of a learning curve), Max is a crazy mad-man who can't stand for his mommy to leave his sight...MA, MA, MMAAAA is often heard thoughout our day. Chris getting busier as his Senior Games event get closer.
I would say I am eager for September to be over, but I know it doesn't get any better in October!
